My Chemical Holiday

2007-12-04 - 4:01 p.m.

Reading: We Need To Talk About Kevin - Lionel Shriver
Listening to: Mama - My Chemical Romance
Wishing: It wasn't over

Oh. My. God.

Best five days ever.

I got home Sunday night but have only just started to recover. Now I'm going through post-gig depression. I have that terrible feeling like something awful has happened or I've failed an assignment.

I could write for days about it. Instead, I'll begin with My Chemical Tally. In five days I caught:
7 buses
5 trains
4 planes
3 trams
1 taxi

On Friday we decided to line up for the Sydney show so we could be front row. We woke up at 4am and were lining up by 5:30am. A bunch of kids slept the night [one girl had been there since Wednesday] and I got extremely pissed off at the kids trying to push in. There was one kid dubbed Mini Gee cos he looked scarily like someone had photoshopped High School Gerard and Adult Gerard together. Despite being there for over 12 hours, we ended up at the same spot we were for Brisbane, thanks to there being four lines for the mosh. So you could be the first person in your line but it didnt mean anything.

What shit me the most is that when we got in there, there were people closer to the stage than us even though they got there 8 hours later. *twitches* I got over it pretty quickly though.

I could have pushed my way to the front [I was only 3 back] if I wanted to but I got out of the mosh during the second support because I had a heinous cow next to me wearing 6 inch boots and was actively trying to break my foot. Plus, the Entertainment Centre had NO water for the mosh and I was dehydrating. What sort of place doesn't supply water for the people wedged at the front???

I don't mind, I prefer being able to see than being close. I just would have liked to have been front row for one of the shows.

The guys were brilliant, they had awesome chemistry going on and you could tell they were excited.

Jen and I were up at 5am the next morning for our flight to Melbourne, which we almost missed. We were at the wrong gate and we didn't realise until the board already said FLIGHT CLOSED. hahaha it's so typical.

Jen, Caitlin and I decided to stay at Melb airport to wait for the guys to arrive. We were there from 8:30am to 3pm and went utterly insane. By the end we were singing The Badger Song [badger badger badger badger badger nushroom mushroom!] and driving some poor dude mental.

I am positive the guys missed their flight cos they arrived three hours after their crew and I was nearly attacked by security when I said hi. I wasn't disappointed cos they were all really nice and Frank was apologetic. I thought he was going to melt me with those eyes of his.

We didn't line up for the Melb show, instead we bought merch. The show was fantastic but you could tell the guys had a terrible day. But unless you had already seen the show you wouldn't have noticed. And the people fucked up the pyro at the end. But none of that mattered because it was FANTASTIC and I spent the entire show giving it my all and savouring every moment.

On Sunday we were so fucking sore that we decided to go to the airport three hours early. There was no way we could move.

While we were sitting at Gloria Jeans having a coffee, the entire band walked past. It's so ironic that we spent the entire day waiting for them and then when we weren't even looking for them we find them.

After much deliberation I decided to talk to Frank, because he was the only one I didn't meet back in January. I felt really embarrassed because I was wearing a band shirt and looked TERRIBLE. No makeup, hair was gross from mosh pit and is too short to tie up properly, etc etc. I said I swore I wasn't following him but was actually on my way home. He was so lovely. He got out of the line [was boarding plane] to take a photo with me.

So. That was My Chemical Holiday. I am still sore, but surprisingly have only three main injuries: bruised foot, sore knee and sore thumb.

I miss those boys already.

He's the Chemical Holiday by pictures. Jen had a bunch of disposable cameras so the quality isn't the best but it adds atmosphere.

Sydney airport, you can tell because we are still clean.

The "shower" at the Brisbane hotel. It was literally the bathroom floor.

Ah Maccas my old friend. The service in Brisbane was terrible.

Lining up for Sydney. Eww sun get it off me!

We're not antisocial at all...

Teenagers scare, the living shit outta me...

It kept raining and then being really hot. I prefered the rain

Mini Gee!

I've been here HOW long???

Melbourne airport. Gotta love those planes!

FRAAAAAANK!!!!!

Isn't he beautiful? I look so deranged lol.
